Get ready for an evening of climate-centered creative writing, reflection, and dialogue! The Art of Change is an event series from the Sword Fern Collective that uses the arts as a medium for creating an emotional connection to climate change.
How do we write in times of change? Join the Sword Fern Collective and Vancouver Poetry House for the second installment of the series, Words. This evening will focus on the power of spoken and written words as a tool to spark climate solutions, build community, and process climate emotions.
The Sword Fern Collective is excited to partner with Vancouver Poetry House for Chapter Two and will feature spoken word performances from local poets and writers! We will be joined by Johnny McRae,
Johnny Trinh, Tawahum Bige, and Lindi Nolte. In addition to these fantastic artists, there will also be an interactive creative writing workshop and dialogue on how written and spoken words help us connect to our emotions, our communities, and our climate.Â
Lead by Erica Binder, Paige Hunter, and Victor Yin, Sword Fern Collective was formed out of a love for people and planet. After seeing how much climate activism focused on the despair of the climate crisis, Erica, Paige, and Victor saw a need for climate change education that centers hope, compassion, creative expression, and emotional resilience.
The Sword Fern Collective aims to advance climate justice by providing educators and students with the tools to discuss climate issues and ideate climate solutions. Subscribe to the online newsletter at swordfernco.substack.com.
